Trial Attorney Experience:

  • Experienced trial attorney preparing more than a thousand criminal, civil and family law cases for jury and bench trials.
  • Completed hundreds of bench trials that have proceeded to verdict.
  • Substantially participated in more than eight criminal and civil jury trials, as lead and co-counsel, that have proceeded to verdict, including a $6,200,000.00 verdict in Sumner County Circuit Court.
  • Completed more than a thousand evidentiary and pre-trial hearings, as well as numerous post-trial or post-plea sentencing hearings.
  • Experienced in trial preparation and discovery in both State and Federal Courts.
  • Conducted cross-examination of more than a thousand lay witnesses and more than a hundred expert witnesses
  • Conducted hundreds of evidentiary and lay witness depositions
  • Intricate understanding of the Administrative Procedures Division of the Department of Children’s Services, successfully appealing and reversing numerous perpetrator indications by the Department of Children’s Services and assisting other attorneys in preparing pleadings to preserve all rights of the citizen.

Government Relations Experience:

  • Served at a Chair and Co-Chair of the Legislative Committee for the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 2009.
  • Works closely with lobbyist monitoring bills proposed in the Tennessee Legislature to develop legislative policy and implement the strategy of the advocacy team for the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
  • Experienced in drafting amendments to proposed legislation.
