The client was charged with fifteen different drug offences in five separate cases. The charges included two counts of felony possession with intent of methamphetamine, eight counts of simple possession of various controlled substances including meth and cocaine, and five counts of drug paraphernalia. The client was offered an inpatient treatment program by the court and failed to complete the program as required. However, after many conversations with the client, the client completed an intensive outpatient treatment program on our recommendation. After negotiating with the District Attorney, we were able to convince the prosecutor to resolve all these charges for three misdemeanors all on probation except for 30 days in jail. The client could have been sentenced to 8-12 years in prison for just one of the felony meth offenses. Once all costs and fines are paid to the court, the judge has allowed the client to be released to unsupervised probation and will no longer have to report monthly.
