The District is comprised of Rutherford and Cannon County. The circuit judges are Royce Taylor, David Bragg, Barry Tidwell and J. Mark Rodgers. The city of Smyrna holds criminal jurisdiction through its General Sessions Court while the counties of Rutherford and Cannon hold separate and distinct General Sessions Court. The prosecuting authority of the 16th judicial district is Jennings Jones, who was elected in 2016. The courts are served by assistant District Attorney Generals throughout the district.
